Truth time:

Buying books is fun. I don’t care what type of store I walk into, if they sell books – I know it’s going to be a good day.

But, there’s something extra magical about buying used books. Knowing that the story you’re about to read has a story of its own? That’s pretty dang cool. The book you’re holding could have belonged to ANYONE (and bonus if they write in the book, am I right?!) 

Used books are already broken in, they often have that enticing used book smell, and buying and reading a used book is like joining a secret bookclub. All bonuses in my (ahem) book.

Used books are going to be priced cheaper than new books, and for obvious reasons. Buying new books can add up quickly and if you’re buying hardcover books, can get pretty expensive pretty fast. 

Buying used books can save you a ton of money in the long run, and can actually help grow your TBR (to be read) stack in faster time because you’re often getting more books for the price of one at retail value.

Did you know that approximately 626,000 tons of paper are used each year to create books? 

Why aide in the business of cutting down more trees to create more books when there are perfectly good used books floating around that have already been made and need a good home? 

Buying used books is so good for the environment, you should probably make it your number one way to purchase books from here on out 😉 

You’re Supporting a Small Business

Yes, there are some big box used bookstores. But most of the time when you’re buying used books, you’re you’re supporting a small business, which means a small business owner, and small business employees.
