These 3 Thrillers by Alice Feeney Will Keep You Guessing
I was first introduced to Alice Feeney in 2018 when I read her debut novel Sometimes I Lie. It was a part of a random bookstore haul and the description was enough to make me pick it up and add it to my cart.
Little did I know, I would be reading my new favorite thriller since Gone Girl, and that I'd be recommending this book to literally every person I meet who tells me they like to read. Needless to say, every time I've seen Alice Feeney released something new; I've been quick to snag it and add it to my TBR collection!
Synopsis of Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney
Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amber Reynolds is in a coma. She's aware of her surroundings; she can hear the conversations happening around her, but she can't move, or speak, and she has no clue how she ended up in this situation, or if she'll ever fully wake up.
Written between Amber's paralyzed present, the weeks leading up this mysterious hospitalization, and childhood diary entries from 20 years prior, both Amber and the reader will try to piece together events that caused her current condition.
Did her husband have something to do with this? Is her sister having an affair with her husband? Did her boss put her in this position? And who is the mysterious visitor at her bedside each night? She can feel him or her, but she has no idea who it is.
This. Book. Is. Brilliant. No joke. I'm not kidding when I say that I haven't read such a, "WHAT?!" since Gone Girl (no spoilers in case you haven't read that one, either).
Sometimes I Lie is good all around, but somewhere around halfway through it goes from good to great, and the ending you will NOT see coming. I don't think I've ever turned pages fast enough once it all started to unfold. This is also one of the few books noteworthy of earning a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating in Goodreads from me.
If you love thrillers, if you love mysteries, and if you love surprise twists that will leave you anything BUT speechless (because you'll be calling all your book-loving friends telling them they HAVE to read this book), then Sometimes I Lie needs to be bumped up your TBR list. Pronto.
And then comment or message me once you read it so we can talk about it!
Synopsis of I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney
I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aimee Sinclair is an actress with a secret past that she thought no one knew. Except that someone does. When she comes home one night and discovers that her husband is missing, she's not sure what to do. The police are definitely not on her side; and think she's hiding something. She is, it's just not what they think.
As she fights to keep her career and sanity intact, Aimee's past will come back to haunt her in ways she never imagined. Will everything she's fought so hard for all these years be ripped from her? Will her husband turn up dead or alive? Or will Aimee be next?
After reading how much I loved Sometimes I Lie, you can imagine how highly anticipated this book was for me. I ran out the day it was released and snagged it immediately. I Know Who You Are was a definite page turner that kept me burning the midnight oil as I raced to find out who did what, and then be completely derailed when everything I thought I knew was flipped upside down.
Only.. the ending, while definitely contained a twist I never saw coming, was (in my opinion) WAY TOO FARFETCHED to even seem realistic. I agonized for awhile over what rating to give this book, and finally settled on 3 stars. It did keep me captivated, and I did enjoy the book. But that ending? Man. I could think of a couple different ways I think it should have gone.. (easy for me to say, right? I'm not an author!) but the craziness of the whole thing ended up in me deducting a couple points.
Sorry, this one wasn't my favorite, but if you like to be entertained and don't care about realistic expectations, give it a go. And then also message me or comment so we can be like "REALLY?!" together.
Synopsis of His & Hers by Alice Feeney
His & Hers by Alice Feeney: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"There are two sides to every story... yours & mine, ours & theirs, his & hers. Which means someone is always lying."Alice Feeney
The heinous murder of a local woman brings news reporter Anna Andrews and her ex husband Detective Jack Harper back into each other lives. The only problem? They're both suspects. Suspicions will continue to rise as more and more copycat killings take place, and a plan so sinister that will leave everyone looking over their shoulder.
There was a lot of pressure on this book to make up for my disappointment in I Know Who You Are. All in all, Feeney redeemed herself with this ending, although I have to admit, I guessed the plot twist about 3/4 of the way through! (I equally LOVE and HATE when I do that..haha!)
This book kept me turning the pages and I finished it in about two days. Cleverly written, Feeney does a great job of weaving all the characters and their personal stories into one big story; leaving you constantly guessing who had the bigger motive.
Definitely add this one to your TBR list and then as always - let me know your thoughts on it!
Whether the ending is realistic or not, Alice Feeney is the queen of psychological suspense and a master at clever plot twists. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
